By Michael Gill: For over a couple of months now, the boxing public had awaited the latest name of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. lottery. For months, Floyd had hinted that he was eyeing Andre Berto as his next opponent, to many this was just Floyd playing the media, for we would all expect for him to name a legitimate contender.
The joke was on us, Floyd was serious about facing Berto on September 12th. Both the public and boxing media have all protested their displeasure with the decision. Many of which, have declared this decision has being one that will tarnish Floyd’s legacy, especially “if” Floyd is to retire after his bout with Berto.
