I have just watched a documentary called ‘Ricky Hatton: The Comeback’. Emotionally, I am conflicted and drained.

Like most boxing fans I was thrilled and concerned by the announcement of Ricky Hatton’s comeback. Thrilled for selfish reasons, certainly.

Concerned… that an idol of so many is willing to risk so much to please those who need no appeasement, who ask no more of you. So, what are you fighting for, not for money and certainly not penitence.

Defeat teaches us more than success, but few men have the strength to accept the lesson taught.
