How can Khan beat Mayweather?

khan#1By Albert Choi: With the recent talk about Amir Khan (28-3-0, 19 KO’s) being the favorite to land the fight against pound for pound king, Floyd “Money” Mayweather (47-0, 26 KOs). I found it quite confusing how Khan has even been in the discussion for the fight based on what he has done in the past year or so. Let me explain.

Being a 17-year-old child from Bolton, England, Amir Khan was the only fighter who represented the U.K. in boxing at the 2004 Athens Games, where he impressively won a silver medal. After his Olympic triumph, Amir Khan was groomed to be boxing’s next superstar. Charismatic, skillful, and Muslim, Khan was marketed into the next big thing in boxing. Winning his first 18 fights without much trouble, Khan was tested at certain times; specifically in a bout against Willie Limond.

Wladimir Klitschko, Unluckiest Boxer of All-Time

wlad7770By ALBERT CHOI: “Heavyweight boxing is dead”. How many times have we heard that saying before? On October 5th of this month, 2013, WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO Heavyweight champion, Wladimir Klitschko took on undefeated Russian Alexander Povetkin. A fight where it was getting coverage like the Super Bowl in Europe was relatively not known at all in the United States.

After outpointing Povetkin, Klitschko remained the undisputed Heavyweight champion of the world but not everybody knows his name. Back when Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis were fighting, the biggest celebrity was the World Heavyweight Champion. However, these days not many people know who Wladimir Klitschko is other than the fact that he is engaged to Hayden Panettiere.

Timothy Bradley deserves shot at Mayweather

bradley#1By Albert Choi: After watching the fight between Juan Manuel Marquez (55-7-1, 40 KO’s) and Timothy Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s), everyone got the see the hard working WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley (31-0, 12 KO’s) completely take Marquez out of his game plan by using the jab, good footwork, and being the busier fighter throughout the fight. Going into the fight, many ring experts believed that Marquez was too “smart” and experienced for the younger Bradley, who was also coming off a tough fight over hard hitting Russian Ruslan Provodnikov. However, after 12 rounds, Bradley won a deserved split decision win over the Mexican legend.

Now that Marquez is out of the way, the only logical fight for Bradley would have to be a shot at Floyd Mayweather Jr. next year in May. Having officially beaten both Marquez and Pacquiao, although Pacquiao was robbed, Bradley should now be considered the next opponent worthy of stepping into the ring against the pound for pound monarch, Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
