Gervonta Davis reacted to the altercation between Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia on top of the Empire State Building in New York, making it clear that he viewed the incident as a manufactured drama with the two trying to create interest in their fight this Saturday.
The unbeaten WBA ‘regular’ lightweight champion, Tank Davis, who many view as the ‘Face of Boxing,’ posted on social media about the Haney-Garcia shoving, saying, “Two good kids selling it.”
Haney: Master of the Shove and Questionable Wins
The last time Haney shoved someone on the stage, he was thrashed by Vasily Lomachenko but was saved by the judges, who gave him a controversial 12-round unanimous decision in Las Vegas last year, which the boxing world disagreed. They saw Haney losing and being given a gift by the judges.
Haney’s popularity, such as it is, was hurt by that performance and worsened by his decision not to fight Lomachenko in a rematch to clear it up. That was a wimp move on Haney’s part not to prove to the fans that he was the true better guy, but it’s par for the course because he’s seen as an opportunist by many of them.

It appears Tank views Haney’s shove as a staged, fake WBE move by him to create interest in his fight with Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) on DAZN PPV at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The unbeaten talent, Take Davis, is above trying to build phony hype at the last minute to create interest in his fights because he doesn’t have to. The interest is already there, thanks to his entertaining fighting style and his proven credentials.
With Haney, he has no power, a boring Shakur-style fighting, and his interviews are like listening to a boring nerd. Basically, Haney has nothing to say, and that’s why his dad, Bill Haney, does this talking for him.
Bill’s way of selling fights is mostly just bragging about Devin, saying he’s the best in the world, and then turning around and setting him up against weak opposition like George Kambosos, Regis Prograis, and Ryan Garcia instead of matching him against the talent that would prove that Dev is the best, like Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, Subriel Matias, and Tank Davis.
