Jordan Gill is on a warpath, setting his sights on yet another colossal victory abroad as he squares off against Manchester’s battle-hardened Zelfa Barrett in a do-or-die Super-Featherweight clash at the legendary AO Arena in Manchester. With the spotlight streaming live on DAZN this Saturday, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

The Chatteris fighter, once the crowned king of the European and Commonwealth Featherweight divisions, left the Irish standout Michael Conlan reeling with a seventh-round takedown in Belfast’s SSE Arena last December. Hot on the heels of this upset, Gill didn’t mince words, demanding a World Title bout right in the ring post-fight.

Dubbed ‘The Thrill’ and often underestimated, the 29-year-old, sharpened under Barry Smith’s watchful eye at the Ben Davison Performance Centre, delivered a career-defining performance against Conlan, blasting his way into the Super-Featherweight World Title fray.

Gill, unfazed by the skeptics before facing Conlan, shared, “Everyone was betting against me. But I knew my strength. I knew I was meant to shake things up. Proving doubters wrong? That’s the sweet spot for me.”

Recalling his strategy against Conlan, Gill remarked, “From the get-go, I had him rattled. I sent him to the canvas in round two. It’s all about biding your time after that. Let them tire out, then go in for the kill. And it worked like a charm.”

Earlier today, Gill locked eyes with Barrett, the ex-European Super-Featherweight champ, as they set the tone for Saturday’s fight-packed event. Alongside their headline act, the card boasts two World Title fights, with Ellie Scotney and Rhiannon Dixon each vying for glory.

Barrett, still hungry for World Title success after a setback against Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov, finds himself in Gill’s crosshairs, who asserts, “Now’s my time. Another victory here and I’m leading the charge for the gold.”

He added, “Barrett’s looking sharp, but I’m here to do damage. I’m eyeing a knockout. That’s the dream. And I live for proving the naysayers wrong.”

Despite the pressure, Gill remains unfazed, “Let Barrett bear the weight of expectations. I thrive as the underdog. Beating the best? That’s the path to the top. And Barrett’s just another step on that ladder.”
