Boxing Results: Ernesto Mercado Stops Deiner Berrio In Texas!

At Red Owl Boxing Arena, Houston, Texas, Friday over DAZN Red Owl Boxing, presented in the Main Event Super Lightweight Ernesto “Tito” Mercado stopped Deiner “El Tigre” Berrio after three rounds due to injury.

In the Main Event Super Lightweight Ernesto “Tito” Mercado, 15-0 (14), #139.8, of Pomona, CA, stopped Deiner “El Tigre” Berrio, 22-15-1 (13), #139.6, of COL, L.A., CA, after three rounds of a scheduled 10 rounds

In the first two rounds Mercado won both due to Berrio covering up doing very little. In the third round’s halfway point Mercado landed a right on top of the head of Berrio stunning him. In between rounds the corner of Berrio stopped the fight.

In the co-Main Event Carlos “Action” Jackson, 20-1 (13), #123.4, of Atlanta, GA, due to injury defeated southpaw Alexis Bastar, 18-3-1 (9), #123.6, of Cancun, Quintana Roo, MEX, at 0:10 of the fifth round of a scheduled 8 rounds.

In the first round Jackson had a slight edge. In the second round Bastar came back to take the second round. In the third round a pair of low blows cost Jackson a point.

In the fifth round Bastar hurt his left hand forcing a stop to the fight.

Lightweight southpaw Oscar Perez, 9-0-2 (6), #134.8, of Houston, TX, defeated Jeremiah Lewis-Watts, 3-2 (1), #134.4, of Toledo, OH, over 6 rounds, scoring a knockdown.

In the first two rounds Perez had a slight edge. In the third round Perez landed a left to the chest knocking Lewis-Watts to the canvas for an 8-count. In the fourth and fifth rounds Lewis-Watts came back well enough to take both rounds. In the sixth and final round Perez knocked out the mouthpiece of Lewis-Watts again taking a close round.

Scores were 57-56, 58-55, 59-54 and 58-55 KH.

Lightweight Luis Gerardo, 1-3 (0), #133.8, of Eagle Pass, TX, lost to Adrian “El Diamante” Serrano, 3-0-1 (0), #133.8, of Salinas, CA, over 4 rounds.

In the first two rounds Serrano had an edge. In the third round Serrano knocked out the mouthpiece of Gerardo. In the fourth and final round both let it all hang out with Serrano taking the final round.
