De La Hoya Trashes ‘Clown’ Rolly, Predicts Knockout for Pitbull Cruz

Promoter Oscar De La Hoya predicts a fourth-round annihilation victory for Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz (25-2-1, 17 KOs) in his title fight against WBA light welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on March 30th on Amazon Prime PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

“Rolly Doesn’t Deserve This”

De La Hoya gives Rolly (15-1, 13 KOs) a smidge of credit for getting this far and landing the fight against Pitbull Cruz, but he still sees him getting wiped out in this fight. As Oscar points out, Cruz is a “Real fighter,” whereas Rolly is a circus-level “Clown” and “doesn’t deserve” this fight.

Rolly captured the vacant WBA 140-lb title last July when the referee Tony Weeks suddenly stopped his fight against Ismael Barroso in the ninth round for no apparent reason. It was weird. In other words, Rolly lucked into his WBA title with the referee-assisted miracle.

Rolly did not land any punches in the final sequence, but Weeks mistakenly thought he was connecting, so he stopped the fight and raised his hand in victory. Before that, Rolly was losing to Barroso and getting dominated by the 40-year-old.

“Rolly-Pitbull, my hat off to Rolly because he’s like a little clown,” said promoter Oscar De La Hoya to the media when asked about his thoughts on the March 30th fight between WBA light welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero and Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz on Amazon Prime PPV in Las Vegas.

The Pitbull Unleashed: Fourth Round KO Incoming

“Getting himself in this position is brilliant; it really is because he doesn’t deserve it. It’s brilliant that he’s getting this fight. Yeah, he’s going to get knocked out by Pitbull. Of course, Pitbull is a beast; he’s an animal. No, the weight won’t make a difference. Pitbull, he’s relentless. Rolly will be on his bike like he was against Barroso, trying not to get hit.

De La Hoya isn’t a fan of Rolly’s goofy style with his haymakers and rudimentary skills. Not surprisingly, he doesn’t see him lasting long against Cruz.

“Rolly is awkward, he doesn’t really have talent in boxing like a real fighter. He has power. he throws all those wide, lunging punches, but that’s not going to do it against Pitbull. He’s a real fighter, he’s a serious real fighter. Fourth round,” said De La Hoya when asked about what round he visualizes Pitbull Cruz knocking out Rolly.
