Tim Bradley says Terence Crawford has no reason to fight Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, given that the $5 million isn’t enough loot for him to take the match.
Bradley feels the former two-time undisputed champion Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) should be getting $10-15 million per fight now, not $5 million. Canelo Alvarez has already rejected a fight with Crawford, so Bradley can forget about the $10-15 million talk.
Limited Options, Limited Paydays
Unfortunately for Crawford, there are no fighters that he can fight that will provide him the big payday that Bradley feels he deserves at this point in his 16-year professional career.
Canelo Alvarez doesn’t wish to fight him, and his rematch with Errol Spence Jr. is not happening. Who else is there for Crawford? Nobody in terms of a popular fighter that will give him a $10-15 million.
Crawford’s Cinderella Moment is Over
The mega-fight with Spence was an anomaly for Crawford career-wise. Before that, Crawford wasn’t getting big paydays of the type Bradley is talking about. With the Spence fight over with, Crawford is returning to what he once was, a guy who is avoided and doesn’t get the mega-money that Canelo and other superstar fighters get.
Crawford had his Cinderella moment, and now he’s returned to what he was before being blessed by Spence. Terence is back from the ball, and there won’t be another grand event like that. The horse and carriage is now a pumpkin and a mouse for Terence.
Mismatched Ambitions vs. Reality
“Crawford is no longer one of those guys that is going to fight for $5 million. He’s that guy, $10-15 million. So, in order for him to do it, it’s got to be worth it,” said Tim Bradley to the media when asked if Terence Crawford should fight Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis next after Canelo Alvarez declined to fight him on May 4th.
“I don’t think Boots, although it would be a good fight, I got Terence winning that fight; will he get paid for it, and that’s the thing? Terence has done what he’s needed to do to make them know he’s the worst man on the planet,” said a gushing Bradley. “He’s done what he’s needed to do. What more do we need?
“So, now he’s in the position where he’s well known, and people love to see him fight. He needs to take advantage of it, and he needs to get that bag,” said Bradley.
