Schofield’s Dad Doubles Down: “Kid Austin Will KO Shakur”

Floyd Schofield Sr., the dad of unbeaten lightweight contender ‘Kid Austin’ Schofield (16-0, 12 KOs), is predicting a knockout win for his son over WBC 135-lb champion Shakur Stevenson.

Schofield Sr. believes his son, Kid Austin, will stop Shakur (21-0, 10 KOs) within three rounds, which is a pretty bold prediction. It’ll be tough for Kid Austin to land his punches on Stevenson, as he’s one of the best defensive fighters in the sport.

For the 21-year-old Kid Austin to get to Shakur hurt him, he’ll need to chase him around the ring, and be prepared to be nailed on the way in and clinched. When Shakur is tough, he tends to tie up his opponents by diving in.

Bold Prediction, Or Delusion?

“I’m just dropping in to talk about the Shakur thing because I want to give my opinion. Let me tell y’all. I know Kid Austin will knock Shakur out. When they do fight, I really believe that,” said Floyd Schofield’s dad to Fighthype about his belief that his son will stop Shakur Stevenson.

“With that being said. I believe Shakur is one of the most talented boxers in boxing right now. Between him and Tank, I think Tank [and Shakur] are the only ones in this division that are really talented.

Call-Out and Contradiction

“We’ve always said that Shakur is talented and that we’re going to fight the best because I’m going to prove to you that he’s [Schofield] the greatest boxer of all time, and how do we do that? By fighting some of the greatest fighters, but I really believe and it’s no disrespect to Shakur, it’s going to be one of the easiest fights of Floyd’s career. It’s going to be easy.

“I think it’s going to be over in three or four rounds. That’s not be s**** on Shakur. I just know my boy. Shakur isn’t going to be able to take those punches for three or four rounds with eight-ounce gloves on. He’s going to break Shakur’s jaw and face. It is what it is.

“Shakur, I would love it if you gave us a shot. Our family would love the generational wealth that would come from this. Let’s do it. [William] Zepeda, I hate to throw you under the bus. I think you and Kid would be a good fight, and we’re not looking past you.

“I told Floyd that you’re going to be harder than Shakur because of the amount of punches you throw,” said Schofield’s dad about his belief that unbeaten William Zepeda would be a tougher fight than Shakur Stevenson for Kid Austin.
