Devin Haney = The Answer for Ryan Garcia Wanting Big Fight – Eddie Hearn

Devin Haney is the answer for Ryan Garcia, who wants to be involved in a big pay-per-view event for his next fight on April 20th on DAZN PPV.

Promoter Eddie Hearn hopes to make the fight between Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) and WBC light welterweight champion Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) this time without Garcia drifting off again.

Haney is Ryan’s best option to make money for the fighters available at 140, considering the division lacks star power.

For the time being, Ryan can’t get the rematch he wants against Gervonta Davis without first gaining one or two significant wins.

Hearn says if he can’t get the fight done with Haney, Ryan can fight one of these four 140-pounders:

– Regis Prograis
– Liam Paro
– Jose Ramirez
– Arnold Barboza Jr.

Hearn says the problem with those guys is that they won’t be big PPV-level matches for Ryan. For Ryan to be involved in a PPV contest that generates money, he needs Haney.

Negotiations Underway

“Who’s he going to fight? We’ve got 140-pounders for him to fight. We’ve got Regis [Prograis]. We’ve got [Liam] Paro. We’ve got these guys. Golden Boy has got [Jose] Ramirez and [Arnold] Barboza, but Ryan doesn’t want those types of guys. He wants a big PPV,” Eddie Hearn said to Fighthype.

“So, if you want a big PPV, you’ve got to fight a big name, and that’s Devin Haney. Then, he came back to me and said, ‘Let’s start again,'” said Hearn about Ryan Garcia.

DAZN Fully Behind Garcia vs. Haney Fight

“So, now these guys are talking. I’m catching up with Bill [Haney]. Obviously, from a DAZN perspective, we’re all on board, and we want it to happen.

“I’m not negotiating with Ryan. I’m just talking as mates. Oscar [De La Hoya] likes putting little sly things out there and stuff like that. We don’t have to be involved in the fight. We have an option with Devin Haney, which we would love to exercise, and we want to work with him.

“He’s one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world. We’ve done a great job with him. I want to be involved in that fight, and I want to see him win,” said Hearn about Haney.

“But if it’s on DAZN, I don’t have to be up there with Oscar. For him, it might be an ego thing. I’m happy to sit in the back. I want that fight to happen for the platform because you’ve got all these big fights on DAZN.

“They just announced Fury-Usyk worldwide on DAZN as well. If we can get Haney-Garcia, if we can make some big fights, it’s great for us. Yeah, Oscar talks about, ‘I want to work with all promoters,’ and then I’m not so sure. I don’t care. I just want Devin to get the fight,” said Hearn.
