Edgar Berlanga and Padraig McCrory successfully made weight ahead of their super middleweight 12-round headliner this Saturday night, live on DAZN from the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. Both fighters tipped the scales at 167.8 lbs.
Cruz vs. Zamarripa Set for Lightweight Clash
Lightweight contender Andy Cruz (2-0, 1 KOs) will be looking to impress with his chief support bout against Bryan Zamarripa (14-2, 5 KOs) scheduled for 12 rounds. The 2020 Cuban Olympic gold medalists Cruz and Zamarripa both came in at 135 lbs at today’s weigh-in.

Berlanga Eyes Bigger Targets
Edgar says he wants to get a fight against Canelo Alvarez next if he’s victorious on Saturday night against McCory.
Berlanga (21-0, 16 KOs) is going to have to put on a spectacular show in the main event to keep Cruz from stealing the shine from him on Saturday night. It’s going to be tough for the American Berlanga, as he not shown the kind of talent that suggests that he’s going to look great against McCrory (18-0, 9 KOs), who might defeat him.
One gets the sense that promoter Eddie Hearn won’t be looking to re-sign Berlanga after his contract with Matchroom expires after his next fight. Berlanga has failed to impressive, and he’s not generating a lot of interest for his fights for Hearn.
After watching Berlanga struggle against Jason Quigley in his last fight, it’s understandable why Top Rank didn’t keep him.
“I know he’s ready to fight. He’s from Ireland and is ready to defend his O,” said Edgar Berlanga to DAZN Boxing after weighing in successfully. “I’m ready, and I’ve got a lot to prove. I got a big statement tomorrow, and it’s game time.
“It’s about time that I go to the next level. The level that I want to be at. You got to learn to set up shots, and eventually, they’re going to go. I don’t want to go in there and focus on the knockout. I just want to go in there and do my thing and look like a superstar, and I know everything will fall into place for me.
“I’m young, I’m stronger, and I got a crazy IQ that I’m going to display tomorrow night,” said Berlanga.
