The Juggernaut Rolls Again: Joe Joyce Rebuilds His Path to the Top

Heavyweight Joe ‘Juggernaut’ Joyce (15-2, 14 KOs will be taking his first step towards rebuilding his career against Kash Ali (21-2, 12 KOs) in a ten-round fight on March 16th at the Resorts World Arena, Birmingham.

Picking Up the Pieces

Joyce refuses to give up on his career after his two knockout losses to Zhilei Zhang in 2023, and he feels it was a bad style match-up for him.

There’s no shame in Joyce losing to the devasting puncher Zhang, as he’s a guy who gave Anthony Joshua huge problems in the 2012 Olympics, coming close to besting him. If that had been AJ fighting Zhang twice in 2023, he probably lost both fights as well.

Zhang is fighting at a higher level than Joshua, and Tyson Fury are now, which you can argue is the chief reason that neither of them has wanted anything to do with the powerful ‘Big Bang.’

In Joyce’s previous fight before meeting up with Zhang, he’d stopped Joseph Parker in the 11th round.

“I didn’t think one minute about retirement. I don’t think I’ve completed everything I’ve set out to do in the sport,” said Joe Joyce to Boxing King Media. “I think I did everything I could to get the win last time around, and it wasn’t to be.”

Eyes on the Future

“Zhang’s a good fighter, and he goes on. He’ll be fighting Joe Parker soon, and I’m really interested in how that one goes off,” said Joyce. “I want to give the fans a spectacle in the ring, and I aim to deliver exciting nights of boxing, and that’s what I want to continue to do.”

If Joyce looks good against Kash, he is quickly moved up against a better fighter by his promoter and then be right back in the hunt.

Juggernaut Still Hungry

“There’s plenty of opportunity to come back. Just because a certain style is not good for you and you get a loss, it’s not it. In the amateurs, when I lost certain fights, I wasn’t ready for them at the time,” said Joyce. “Sometimes, styles are better than you.

“Just because you lose doesn’t mean you have to give up. That’s a quitter. A strong man that’s in a contact sport that wants to win and be successful and become a world champion. That’s what I’m going to continue to do,” said Joyce.
