Jake Paul Is Ready To Level Up When He Faces Andre August

Youtuber turned professional boxer Jake Paul traveled the unconventional route to the boxing scene, but now he’s ready to level up, as he’s scheduled to face Andre August (10-1-1, 5 KOs) on Friday, December 15th at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando Florida, live on DAZN.

It’s kind of odd to highlight the fact that a boxer will be fighting another guy who is actually a boxer, but when Jake Paul is involved, that piece of information is definitely a talking point.

Paul’s list of opponents in his eight-fight boxing career includes the likes of a retired NBA player and multiple over-the-hill MMA fighters.

Back in January 2020, Jake Paul made his professional boxing debut by defeating YouTuber AnEsonGib via first round TKO. Later in the same year, Paul knocked out former NBA player Nate Robinson in the second round.

For the next two years, Jake Paul fought and defeated MMA fighters who were way passed their primes. Paul fought Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley twice, and Anderson Silva. Finally, in February 2023, Jake Paul stepped inside of the squared circle, and he kinda sorta fought an actual boxer.

Tommy Fury is a cruiserweight boxer who happens to be the brother of the WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Tommy and Tyson share a name, but they don’t share the same level of boxing talent. Tommy is a novice boxer whose limited arsenal features a jab and a one-two.

When Jake Paul got in the ring to face Tommy Fury, it was the first time Paul competed against an opponent who possessed a legitimate jab. Paul scored a knockdown in the final round, but Fury landed the cleaner shots throughout the contest, and as a result, Fury earned a split-decision victory.

After losing his first professional bout, Jake Paul went back to his norm as he defeated 38-year-old MMA fighter Nate Diaz. Now that Jake Paul has made millions as a novice boxer, he’s ready to switch gears and fight for legacy and to earn the respect of the boxing community.

Jake Paul (7-1, 4 KOs) has a specific goal as he plans on becoming one of the greatest sports stories in the history of sports by going from the Disney Channel to world boxing champion within a six-year period. His journey as a boxing prospect will begin on Friday, December 15th.

His opponent, Andre August, is an unknown boxer who has been put in a position to score a massive upset, and with a win, he could create more lucrative opportunities for himself. After participating in 25 amateur bouts, August made his pro debut back in May 2013.

He won his first five fights before losing to Eric Abraham back in September 2018. At the time of the bout, Abraham was (3-3), but now Abraham is (7-16, 3 KOs), and he’s been knocked out thirteen times. After the loss to Abraham, Andre August would bounce back by winning his next four bouts.

Following his unanimous decision victory over Santario Martin, Andre August was out of the sport of boxing for the next four years. He made his return to the squared circle four months ago when he defeated Brandon Martin.

Now, the 35-year-old Houston-based fighter Andre August is ready to compete in the biggest fight of his career. In the limited amount of fight footage on Andre August, it appears that he’s a boxer who throws punches in bunches, and he has a well-balanced attack as he equally targets his opponent’s head and body.

The 26-year-old Jake Paul is focused on creating his boxing legacy because he already has the fortune and fame. Since turning pro back in 2020, Jake Paul has made vast improvements as it relates to his technique and his ability to set up his shots.

Paul is taking a calculated risk due to the fact that Andre August, as of now, is just a pro boxer on paper. However, you can’t discredit Paul for fighting a paper fighter because matches like this are part of the process for a prospect.

On the night of December 15th live on DAZN, if Jake Paul is able to dominate Andre August, then there is a possibility that Paul could be on the level of a legitimate cruiserweight prospect. If Paul loses or struggles his way to victory, then the influencer boxer lane may be Jake Paul’s permanent lane.
