Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) says he’s already been training for 14 weeks and has a  couple more remaining before he’s ready to face Canelo (59-2-2, 39 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Charlo will be the underdog in this fight, and he will have to put in the performance of his life to defeat Canelo, who is almost impossible to beat by a decision.

Only two fighters have beaten Canelo on points, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Dmitry Bivol, and they were pretty special. Charlo isn’t on the level of those guys, talent-wise, so he’s going to need to raise his game.

Jermell will be getting “generational” wealth in this fight, and it will set him up for life. He doesn’t say how much, but it could be well over $10 million.

According to Celebrity Net Worth,  Jermell’s net worth is estimated at $3 million, which isn’t a huge amount. Getting a payday of $10M will significantly boost Jermell’s fortune, and his popularity will soar.

If Charlo beats Canelo, he can make even more money unless the Mexican star chooses not to avenge the loss, which you can’t rule out because he walked away from his loss to Dmitry without attempting to get even.

Jermell working hard for Canelo fight

“It’s hot in Texas, and I feel good in Texas. I don’t got no distractions,” said Jermell Charlo during his Houston media workout for his fight with Canelo Alvarez.

“A lot of people, they leave their crib and stuff because they got distractions or they don’t got the love. They leave their crib; that’s why they do it for. I don’t understand, but I have everything here, from recovery to everything.

So I want to stay in Texas as long as I can, but I just finished a cool workout. It was quick. I worked out this morning as well because I usually work out sometimes in the morning,” said Jermell.

It’s important that Charlo not stay in Texas too long and come into Vegas a worn-out, drained fight like we saw from Errol Spence Jr last July. Spence put in a lot of hard work in the Texas sun and appeared to be a worn carcass when he entered the ring for his fight against Terence Crawford on July 29th.

“I have to do that for the fans, Showtime, and the viewers, but I went easy to right now, a little light. I couldn’t show y’all everything. I can’t give all my secrets right now. Y’all over here recording me and stuff.

“I’ve been doing so much sparring, so much strength training, I’ve been doing a lot of conditioning. I’ve been working on a lot of mental as well. So it’s not all about physical. I’m preparing myself the full nine yards about this process.

I’ve been possibly training for 14 weeks, so I’ve been going for a long time. Like I said, no fight gets made without negotiations. So this fight, of course, handsome negotiations. We just kept it quiet and did what we did. It’s released to the public. So we’re fighting the best fighter in the world,” Charlo said.

As long as Jermell isn’t overdoing it like some fighters do when they get a mega-fight, he should be okay against Canelo. Sometimes a fighter needs to back off from their training and not make the mistake of thinking that more is better.

Charlo getting generational wealth

“We’re from Texas, he’s from Mexico. It’s not too far. I know it’s hot over there,” said Jermell. “Not necessarily, but when I saw he was making his move to PBC, I said, ‘Maybe me or my brother, one of us can get our hand on Canelo and make a legacy fight, a generational wealth type of fight.”

Jermall Charlo said last week that he’s next up for Canelo. It’s unclear who told him that, but he seemed pretty sure he would be up next for the Mexican star.

Given that Canelo has no interest in fighting the killers at 168, David Benavidez, David Morrell Jr., and Demetrius Andrade, that narrows his options dramatically for who he’ll be fighting in his next two fights of his three-fight deal with PBC.

“So that’s definitely what they bring. I deserve it. I conquered my weight division,” said Jermell. “What else is more is there for me to do other than to continue to fight challengers? I have an awesome challenge right now with Canelo is a massive thing.

“Getting money is part of why we do this. We’re proud fighters. We’re definitely here for a reason, and we’re one of the highest-paid combat sports in the world. We put a lot of work in, a lot of dedication, a lot of determination, family, and sacrifice.

“There’s a lot of things that we do in boxing that a lot of people outside boxing don’t get to see to get to the major fights. They don’t know what we go through as far as injuries and recovering from nose bleeds. Just staying on it.

“Truthfully, in my mind, I have some personal artists that I would like to walk me out, but I’m so dialed in that it’s hard for me to connect on that. I’m excited about my entire, what I’m going to wear. I haven’t got to what I’m going to wear for my ring walk.

“I know Canelo is going to have his big mariachi band, and that’s cool. If I stumble on a larger global artist that wants to walk me out. Maybe Chris Brown, that’s one of my friends. We can come out with some heat.

“I don’t know yet. I haven’t put my mind to it, but it’s getting closer. I know I got to lock that in. I’m not in competition with Terence Crawford for the ring walk. I know everybody is trying to get the answer to.

“He came out with Eminem, and that’s some bad s**t. It’s going to be hard to beat that. He wins. That’s not my world, and we don’t get paid for that anyway. I almost had Lil Wayne. I’ve had some people that I’ve been in contact with. So, we shall see,” said Jermell.
