Showtime PPV price $84.99 for Errol Spence vs. Terence Crawford

By Craig Daly: Errol Spence Jr vs. Terence Crawford event will cost fans $84.99 for their July 29th mega-fight. It still might be too high to prevent fans from turning up their noses at paying and choosing the cheaper route to watch it on illegal streams or Youtube immediately after the contest ends.

This is less than the out-of-this-world $100 PPV price for the disappointing Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao events.  Those two fights left boxing fans hopping made, feeling ripped off afterward.

The undercard still hasn’t been revealed, so the early buyers must decide whether this is a fair price for the Spence-Crawford welterweight undisputed championship.

You hate to predict this early, but it’s likely the undercard will just be prospects in showcases fights [read: mismatches to make them look good].

It would be nice for the fans if they got value for their money by the organizers putting together a loaded card from top to bottom or at least two to three good undercard fights instead of the usual none.

“I won’t step too high and say all time, but my name would be up there in those talks,” said Terence Crawford to The Schmo when asked whether a win over Errol Spence Jr will make him the all-time #1 fighter in boxing.

“On July 29th, we’re taking all those titles home,” said Crawford. “All those naysayers and those people that doubted me and doubted my skills and my ability to be who I say I am, and that’s the best fighter in the world.”

“Errol Spence has to be his best version of himself and be the guy that we know him to be,” said Spence’s trainer Derrick James to The Schmo. “I think the winner of this fight will be ranked really high. Errol should be ranked really high anyway because of the level of opposition he’s faced.

“You can’t look at somebody for winning a fight without looking at the level of opposition they’re facing. You have to look at the level of people they beat. Not necessarily the fact that they won. Errol fought the higher-level competition, and that’s just the truth.

“They’ll say Errol Spence put on a hell of a show, and he did it again. It’s going to be good up to a point,  but once Errol has it figured out and starts chopping him and breaking him down, that’s when I think it changes for the worse for Terence Crawford.

“When he can’t get away from it, that’s when you’ll see Errol chop him down just like everybody else,” said James.
