Deontay Wilder lectures Andy Ruiz, urges him to accept offer

By Dan Ambrose: Deontay Wilder posted on social media yesterday, urging former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr to accept his offer for a summer fight.

The former WBC champion Wilder (43-2-1, 42 KOs) says Ruiz needs to be his own man, make his own decisions, and agree to the deal. If not, he could have regrets later in life for not taking advantage of this golden opportunity that he’s presented to him.

Wilder added a remark about Ruiz’s father lecturing him later about not saving his money.

This could be in response to rumors that Ruiz is rapidly blowing through his massive $10 million fortune earned from his two fights with Anthony Joshua in 2019.

Wilder says Ruiz should accept offer

“Yo, Andy, let’s get this fight on. We offered you a hell of a lot of money. You should take it,” said Deontay Wilder on Instagram, sending a message to Andy Ruiz Jr to agree to the financial offer sent to him for a summer fight.

Stop playing around, be a man, make your own decisions, and not allow your daddy to mess up your last few years.

“Remember that before it’s too late, you’ll have regrets while your father lectures you on how you should have saved your money, lol,” said Wilder.

If Ruiz takes the fight with Wilder, he could help keep adding to his retirement savings to enjoy his golden years, sitting back without having to slave away like regular peeps with a 9 to 5 job or worse.

Getting a payday against Wilder would give the 33-year-old Ruiz a nice golden parachute to cushion his landing into retirement. With the dough he gets from the Wilder fight, Ruiz could hang out on the beach, sipping pina coladas, eating rich food, and living in a mansion in Beverly Hills for the remainder of his days.

It would be a good idea for former IBF, WBA & WBC champion Ruiz (35-2, 22 KOs) to take the fight with Wilder because if he wins, he can be the one that faces Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia in December.

Ruiz has been pushing for the trilogy fight with Joshua since he lost the rematch in December 2019.

Despite AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn telling ‘The Destroyer’ Andy what he needed to do for him to get the third fight, he’s failed to do what he asked. Hearn told Ruiz he needed to pick up some wins over top-level opposition to make it worthwhile for Joshua to fight him again.

Instead of following Hearn’s instructions, Ruiz has fought just twice since his loss to Joshua, beating 43-year-old Luis Ortiz in a life & death contest and 40-year-old Chris Arreola.

It’s mind-boggling how Ruiz didn’t at least try and earn the trilogy fight with Joshua by staying active, fighting twice to thrice yearly.

Ruiz should have fought these guys since 2019:

  • Arslanbek Makhmudov
  • Martin Bakole
  • Frank Sanchez
  • Joe Joyce
  • Zhilei Zhang
  • Jared Anderson
