By Brian Webber: Eddie Hearn insists that Canelo Alvarez wants to avenge his loss to Dmitry Bivol last May.

Hearn says the loss for Canelo (58-2-2, 39 KOs) is eating him up inside, and he’s really bugged by it.

It’s not just Canelo. Bivol could be the biggest obstacle blocking the Canelo fight because he wants to fight Artur Beterbiev for the undisputed championship next.

If Bivol makes up his mind that he’s going to fight Beterbiev next, he’ll need to wait until he’s free.

“I think if he had a choice, I think he’d like to be undisputed at 175,” said Eddie Hearn to Fight Hub TV about Bivol. “Obviously, for me working with Canelo and Bivol, it would make sense to make that fight.

“I have to talk to Eddy Reynoso and Saul. Obviously, they would have watched that performance. That defeat [for Canelo] will eat him up. He’ll want to revenge that defeat.

“Right now, he has a chance to avenge a defeat, and I think that’ll be his priority.

“I’ll see what Eddy and Saul say. I would like to make the Canelo rematch because I don’t think the Beterbiev will be available until August or September.

“If he’s going to fight Yarde in January or February, and then he’s got Ramadan until April or May. He’s probably not going to be ready until August or September. I don’t think Dmitry Bivol will wait that long.

“I really don’t think Canelo is concerned with his marketability in terms of losing fights. I feel he just wants the biggest challenges. Knowing him, voluntary defenses don’t really appeal to him unless he particularly wants to fight someone.

“You can’t do every time what people want, to be honest,” said Dmitry Bivol after the fight. “If I do what people want, maybe I lose myself. I know I have a good defense, I have good movement, I have good combinations, sharp combinations.

“I try to do it, and I try to make people like it. I don’t want to say bad words about my opponent, but people want to hear it.

“I want to show respect for people and say by actions in the ring, and I want people to accept this from me. I hope one day they will accept it,” said Bivol.
