Gervonta Davis wants Isaac Cruz to fight Rolly Romero

By Allan Fox: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis gave Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz some bad news last Sunday night by telling him through Twitter that he wants him to fight Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero next.

Tank appears to be on a crash course with unbeaten contender Ryan Garcia next, so he won’t be available to defend against Pitbull Cruz (24-2-1, 17 KOs) in a rematch.

There’s not enough interest yet in a second fight between Pitbull Cruz and Tank Davis. If Cruz wants to help his situation, he’ll follow Tank’s advice to fight Rolly Romero next. It would be a fight that would attract a lot of fan interest.

The 24-year-old Cruz made easy work of a skittish-looking Eduardo Ramirez (27-3-3, 12 KOs), stopping him in the second round last Sunday night.

Ramirez was running around the ring, not throwing punches and focusing exclusively on survival. In the second round, Cruz dropped Ramirez face first on the canvas with a left hook to the head.

A short time later, Cruz caught up to Ramirez and dropped him for the second time in the round with a left hook filled by a hard right hand. At that point, the referee waved it off.

“Rolly and Isaac Cruz need to fight,” said Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis. “I know who don’t want to fight Cruz because he doesn’t have a chin,” said Tank, hinting about Ryan Garcia lacking the strong mandible to take on Pitbull Cruz.

“We want the rematch with Gervonta Davis. These fans have been great. I came out and did what I promised. I did it tonight,” said Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz after his second round knockout of the hapless Eduardo Ramirez last Sunday night.

Bring on Devin Haney. He’s the champion, and I’m the interim champion, so let’s bring it in,” said Pitbull Cruz when asked who he wants to fight if he can’t get a rematch with Gervonta.

Undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney is fighting George Kambosos Jr next month on October 15th. If Haney wins, his promoters at Top Rank want to match him against Vasyl Lomachenko. That’s a bigger fight for Haney than defending against Isaac Cruz.

“I was ready to win at all costs. For my family, my wife, my kids, and what best to win it for here for all the LA fans that are with me,” said Cruz.
