By Jim Calfa: Heavyweight prospect Jared ‘Big Baby’ Anderson says he’d like to fight the Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Luis Ortiz winner after his next fight against Miljan Rovcanin (24-2, 16 KOs) on August 27th at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Tulsa.

The 22-year-old Anderson (11-0, 11 KOs) wants to retire young, and for that reason, he must move rapidly to ascend the heavyweight ranks to get a title shot.

It’s unlikely that the Ruiz vs. Ortiz winner will bother with Anderson, considering their fight is a WBC title eliminator. They’ll be looking to get a title shot against Tyson Fury rather than facing a young contender like Anderson.

Jared has worked with Fury in a sparring partner capacity, and the champion was greatly impressed with his talent.

Besides wanting the Ruiz-Ortiz winner, Anderson says he wants to fight Filip Hrgovic and Carlos Takam. Of those two, Takam is the more likely one to be made for Anderson by his promoters at Top  Rank.

“If I’m realistic, I’d say three times, but I only think I’m getting twice,” said Jared Anderson to DAZN Boxing Show when asked how many times he wants to fight in 2022.

“I’m trying to fight as many people as I can and the bigger names,” said Anderson. “I don’t plan on doing this long. I plan on making more money outside of boxing than I ever did in boxing.

Anderson’s last four wins:

  • Oleksandr Teslenko
  • Vladimir Tereshkin
  • Jeremiah Karpency
  • Kingsley Ibeh

“Right now, Carlos Takam, Filip Hrgovic,” said Jared about who he’d like to fight. “I got to talk to my coach. We be politicking. I pay attention to who is in front of me, and they hate that about me. A lot of people hate that about me.

“I take it day by day, round by round. 100%,” said Anderson when asked if he’d like to fight that the winner of the September 4th fight between Andy Ruiz Jr and Luis Ortiz.

“That would get me in the rankings and get my name out there more. and give me a bigger fan base. I would jump on it immediately.

“I haven’t seen too much on him,” said Jared about his next opponent Miljan Rovcanin. “He’s got a weird European style. He’s open for a lot of shots, and he’s not that good of a fighter. I know he’s not a top 10 fighter; he’s not elite,” said Anderson.
