By Adam Baskin: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero called out unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. on Saturday night, saying he’s moving up to 147 and wants a title shot against the “droopy-eyed” IBF, WBA & WBC champion.

Rolly (14-1, 12 KOs) saw his unbeaten streak end on May 28th with a sixth-round knockout defeat against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on Showtime PPV.

It’s unclear how serious Rolly, 26, is about challenging Spence for his there titles. Spence is expected to move up to 154 after this year, so Rolly is out of luck unless Errol is feeling charitable to the beleaguered former interim WBA 135-lb champion.

It’s reasonable to assume that Spence won’t give Rolly the time a day because he needs to move up to 147 and prove himself against top-rung opposition before he’ll be given a title shot, but that probably won’t be against Errol because he’s on his way out of the division.

“I’d like to get Gervonta Davis again, obviously. Hopefully, at 140, I’ll be stronger and all that stuff,” said Rolly Romero to Fight Hub TV.

“F*** that. I’ve got bigger plans anyway. I want Errol Spence Jr. F*** 140, I want Errol Spence Jr. I’m going up to 147. I’m a big mother f***. I want that ugly a** mother f****.

“That droopy-eyed, dopey-eyed mother f****. Googly-eyed mother f****,” said Rolly.

Romero has a better chance of getting a rematch with Tank Davis, but only because he’s signed to the same promoters at Mayweather Promotions, and that company seems to prefer to do in-house fights.

Still, Rolly will need to pick up some solid wins for him to get a chance to fight Tank Davis in a rematch because the fight won’t sell the second time around unless Romero beats some quality fighters to rebuild.

“He’s a tremendous fighter; he’s a Mexican Mike Tyson. I support him and his big a** head,” said Rolly when asked about his thoughts on a fight with Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz.

“For some reason, it didn’t go through [Ryan vs. Pitbull Cruz]. Ryan and Tank need to fight. All I want to do is I want to fight Errol Spence Jr.

“Ryan knocked him the f*** out,” said Rolly about Ryan Garcia’s sixth-round knockout win over Javier Fortuna on Saturday night. “Oh hell yeah,” said Rolly when asked if he expected Ryan to stop Fortuna.

“I was very impressed. Ryan Garcia is a great fighter. Ryan Garcia is a good fighter and has a really good hook. I think Ryan Garcia is a star and is ready for whoever. He deserves it.

“They’re both tremendous fighters, man. Whoever wins that fight is a real monster,” said Rolly when asked who wins in a fight between Ryan Garcia and Tank Davis.

“If Ryan catches Tank, Tank is out. If Tank catches Ryan, Ryan’s out. That’s how it is. That’s why when there are two punchers. It’s a beautiful fight,” said Rolly.
