By Chris Williams: Shakur Stevenson says he wants a fight against Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, and he feels it would be the biggest fight in boxing.

Shakur, 24, will need to move up in weight for the fight against the unbeaten Tank, but that shouldn’t be an issue. When the two fighters posed for pictures last Saturday night, the 5’7″ Stevenson towered over the 5’5 1/2″ Gervonta, looking both taller & bigger than him.

The two-division world champion Shakur (18-0, 9 KOs) states that he has better skills than Tank Davis (27-0, 25 KOs), and he says he’s “down’ for a fight against him.

Stevenson, 24, was at Tank’s fight against Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and he had it close up until Gervonta scored a knockout in the sixth.

“It was a great fight, a kind of close fight until Tank caught him,” said Shakur to Fighthype on last Saturday’s sixth-round knockout win for Tank Davis over Rolly Romero.

“Just be Tank,” Stevenson said about what Gervonta did that was special to defeat Rolly. “I mean, anybody with skills is going to catch Rolly. Rolly is reckless. He really had no respect for Tank. He didn’t look like no boxer. He looked like a UFC fighter.

“I think Tank was feeling him out early, and as the fight kept going, he was getting better and better. I think even if he didn’t knock him out, he was going to knock him out later on.

“I kind of knew when Tank threw his first shot in the first round, and he did a funny thing and didn’t do anything to him. I knew early that Tank had him, and it was just a matter of time.

“That’s the truth,” said Stevenson when told that he’s the ONLY one that can challenge Tank Davis. “When you fight Tank, you’ve got to stay alert for 12 rounds. The only person who will be alert and on the top of their game for 12 rounds straight is somebody like me.

“What are you doing with Bud & Errol? They got to fight. The fans want to see the fight because it’s the best of the best.

“I feel like me and Tank are two special fighters, and we’re going to end up being the best of the best, and we’re going to have to fight. Yeah, I’m more skillful than Tank. He might not like me saying it, but I feel like it’s the truth. I feel like I’m a more skillful fighter than he is. I don’t go down in rounds. I come back,” said Shakur in rating himself above Tank.

I’m with it; I’m down,” said Shakur Stevenson to Fight Hub TV about a fight between him and Tank Davis. “I think that’s the biggest fight in the sport of boxing.
