Ryan Garcia wants fans to begin hyping Isaac Cruz fight

By Max Schramm: Ryan Garcia has urged his millions of followers on social media to begin hyping up his potential WBC lightweight title eliminator bout against Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz after the World Boxing Council ordered the fight on Tuesday.

Ryan wants his 9 million followers on social media to “blow this up” by spreading the word that he could be fighting former 135-lb world title challenger Pitbull Cruz (23-2-1 16 KOs) next.

The fans probably would if Ryan hadn’t backed out of his last two WBC-ordered title eliminators against Joseph ‘Jojo’ Diaz Jr. and Javier Fortuna last year.

Additionally, when Ryan defeated Luke Campbell by a seventh-round knockout last year in June in a WBC title eliminator, he opted not to use his mandatory status to challenge champion Devin Haney.

Given Ryan’s history of not following through with WBC eliminators, you can’t blame his millions of followers if they choose to take a wait-and-see approach.

The Garcia vs. Cruz fight still needs to be negotiated before it can become a reality, however. There’s a purse bid that will take place on June 14th if the two parties are unable to negotiate a deal by that time.

If the Garcia-Cruz fight does take place, the winner will be the mandatory challenger to WBC lightweight champion Devin Haney.

Cruz is promoted by Al Haymon and Premier Boxing Champions, whereas Ryan is managed by Golden Boy Promotions.

Pitbull Cruz (23-2-1, 16 KO) has looked sharp in his last three fights against Yuriorkis Gamboa, Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, and Francisco Vargas.

For his part, Ryan hasn’t looked nearly as good in his last two fights against Emmanuel Tagoe and Luke Campbell. In both of those fights, Ryan proved easy to hit and nervous-looking when dealing with any kind of pressure.

“As you saw, I just posted an interesting picture where the WBC ordered me and Pitbull Cruz to fight,” said Ryan Garcia on social media.

“I’m going to try to bring this to LA, but I need you guys to blow this up like everything. Let’s get the fans hyped, let’s get everyone hyped, and I’ll thank you all for the support, but let’s try and blow this up.

“Share and like it as much as you can and comment. Also, once this fight is signed, sealed, and delivered, I’ll be updating you guys the whole time with the fight date and location, and I’ll keep you guys involved the whole way through,” said Ryan Garcia.

“I’m so excited! This fight just got ordered by the WBC, so there’s little chance this man escapes from his fate when he enters the ring with me. Let’s go, ‘Pitbull, roof-roof. It’s time to make this happen. Don’t do anything weird, let’s give the fans what they want! 🔥🥊,” said Ryan Garcia on Twitter.
