Gervonta Davis Raises Ryan Garcia Offer To 144

Gervonta Davis initiated the rematch discussion by declaring that he would fight Ryan Garcia at 140 pounds but refused to climb to 147. Ryan responded by demanding the full welterweight limit, prompting Tank to increase his offer to 144 through his @MoneyTwofly account.

“I would go to 140 but not 147 for him,” Davis commented from his official @gervontaa Instagram account.

Ryan rejected the idea of making another major weight concession after dropping to 136 pounds for their April 2023 fight.

“Gervonta cool, but he don’t want the smoke. What’s up with you? I went to 136, you can’t come to 147. Don’t be shaky now. I need that if you want it. If not, there’s nothing to be said,” said Ryan on X.

Tank then quoted Ryan’s post from his burner account and raised his proposed weight by four pounds.

“No lie, for you I’ll do 144. Word, say it’s a bet! And I’ll get this [stuff] I’m going through out the way! Just give the word,” said Davis, who added that he had already talked to Al Haymon.

Moving from 140 to 144 within hours shows that Tank wants the rematch more than his original comment suggested. The remaining three pounds may disappear if the payday is large enough.

Ryan has no reason to concede. He naively accepted a 136 pound catchweight and a 10 pound rehydration restriction for their first meeting, despite having the larger social media following. Tank’s management controlled the negotiations, and Davis stopped a depleted Ryan with a body shot in the seventh round.

The negotiating positions are different three years later. Tank has not fought since his disputed draw with Lamont Roach Jr. in March 2025. His popularity has deteriorated through inactivity, lackluster opposition and an unwillingness to take risky fights.

Ryan’s two round destruction of Conor Benn restored his value and widened his social media advantage over Davis. He is the active fighter with several lucrative options, including Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney and Pitbull Cruz.

Tank began at 140 and quickly climbed to 144. That tells Ryan everything he needs to know. Davis wants the money, and Ryan possesses enough leverage to make him come the remaining three pounds to 147.
