By Scott Gilfoid: Despite having an impressive record and a decent ranked with the WBA, Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) has been brought in to be the token lamb for Britain’s David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) to slaughter this Saturday night in their heavyweight fight at the O2 Arena in London, UK. De Mori, 33, has obviously been well- vetted as a vulnerable fighter that Haye could not possibly lose to, so now all that needs to happen is the actual beating of De Mori by Haye.

De Mori does not see himself as the lamb in this fight, and he’s not planning on just rolling over and kicking his legs in the air to show that he’s submissive to Haye. De Mori says he’s got big power of his own, and he plans on going out that and taking the aging 35-year-old Haye’s head off on Saturday when he gets inside the ring with the rusty old heavyweight.

“I assume most people have turned up today to speak to David Haye,” De Mori said via Fight News. “I’m the other guy. I am the unknown, I have explosive power, and I’m here to win, ready to knock David Haye out, ready to fight.”

So there it is. De Mori is ready to take Haye’s scalp in front of his many fans that will be coming to see Haye hoping that he can win and revive the old Hayemaker express. The Haye train was stopped five years ago by Wladimir Klitschko; even though Haye did beat Dereck Chisora in 2012. You can’t really count the Chisora fight as a meaningful win for Haye, because Chisora is more of a domestic level heavyweight rather than a world class guy.

De Mori does a lot of weight lifting and it’s hard to understand whether he’s a weight lifter or a fighter. He appears to be able to lift great weights. I’m not sure he’s a huge puncher though, because he’s never beaten anyone of note. However, De Mori is a heavyweight, and any fighter can score a knockout in that division if they land something on the button. De Mori has an advantage in that he’s been busy with his career the last four years, and he’s not been sitting around licking his wounds like Haye.

De Mori is also a little younger than Haye. I mean, De Mori is only two years younger, but he looks a heck of a lot younger than Haye at this point. I don’t think Haye has aged too well since he’s been out of the ring. If you look at Haye’s face, you can’t help noticing the heavy bags under each eye. He’s got a kind of hound dog look to him now, like someone who has had too many sleepless nights in the last few years. I don’t know if more rest is going to get that youth back in Haye at this point. I just think he’s past the point of no return, and it’ll be all downhill for him from this point on.
