Can Mayweather make it to 50-0?

1-05-1By Jon Jencitis: With the the fact that Manny Pacquiao is out for 9 months to a year recovering from surgery, it clearly shows that rematch between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr. won’t take pace before Floyd has his 49th and “Final” fight. This predicament is perfect for Floyd as he can give Manny a rematch and at the same time beat former heavyweight world champion Rocky Marciano’s record 49-0 record, because he will beat a fully fit Manny Pacquiao. This begs another question who’s next for Mayweather? Anir Khan? Migiel Cotto?

I believe it will be Amir Khan. Khan’s only weapon that can do any damage to Floyd is his speed, Other than that Floyd out classes him.

Floyd will win the fight and dominate the fight as he has done throughout his career. Why Amir thinks this will be different is unknown to most people, if not all.

Khan will start off rapid and try to overwhelm Mayweather, but it won’t last long as his shots will be ineffective to a large degree, and if Floyd lands a peach over a straight right hand it could even KO Khan. This fight is in my opinion a bad fight for Khan to take because when he loses where does he go next? I predict a late stoppage for Floyd if this fight were to take place, id say a 10th or 11th round KO.

Cotto is another option at 154lbs, but this fight is a nothing fight for Floyd. Yes, Cotto is world class fight in his own right, but Floyd won’t fight him again. I think Floyd would want to shut Amir up and show him the true upper echelon of boxing. Khan and Cotto are both world class but Floyd is a different level. His next fight all depends on how Khan and Cotto do in there respective fights and with the greatest respect to Chris Algieri and Daniel Geale, fighters of Khan and Cotto’s quality should easily come through these fights relatively unscathed. But you never know with boxing which is why it is such a wonderful sport.

Whoever Floyd faces next it will be an opponent he knows he can beat, an opponent that poses as little risk as possible, which poses the question will he finish 50-0?. Because once he dispatches Amir he will then set his sights on the rematch v Pacquiao and he will be in prime position to win again and take Marciano’s record. Its just a matter of who he wants to beat because whether you like him or hate him he is a genius in the ring no doubt about it.
