By Wilmar Patino (Boxing’s Finest) Sergey Kovalev will be facing off against Jean Pascal on March 14, 2015 in Montreal, Canada. Sergey Kovalev will have all his 3 titles (WBA, WBO, & IBF) on the line when he faces Jean Pascal in the challengers hometown. This is why Sergey Kovalev is a True Champion. He’s not afraid of anyone and he will go anywhere to take on all challengers despite the politics.

As seen in the video that goes along with this article Sergey Kovalev fought for 3 years without making a dime in hopes of attracting promoters to sign him. Finally, Kathy Duva of Main Events gave him a chance and Sergey Kovalev took off knocking everyone along the way to his first title shot. Finishing off all his opponents in under 8 rounds in devastating fashion.

On August 8, 2013 Sergey Kovalev went to Nathan Cleverly’s hometown at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. Sergey Kovalev challenged undefeated Nathan Cleverly for his WBO Light Heavyweight title. Kovalev would soon knockdown Cleverly several times before getting the TKO win in only 4 rounds. Thus making him the new champion and giving him the opportunity for more exposure and deals with big networks.

Sergey Kovalev would go on to continue his string of Knockouts with Ismayl Sillah in just 2 rounds. Kovalev would defend his title 2 more times against undefeated contenders in Cedric Agnew and Blake Caparello setting up a long awaited big fight with the then (IBF and WBA) champion Bernard Hopkins. Negotiations didn’t take too long as Kovalev was willing to do what it takes to get the opportunity of fighting a legend and unifying the titles. So he fought Hopkins in what can be seen as Hopkins hometown in Atlantic City, NJ. Sergey Kovalev scored a knockdown of Hopkins in the 1st round and eventually dominated the scorecards to become the Unified Light Heavyweight Champion of the World.

Now with just over a week to go Sergey Kovalev takes on the #3 Light Heavyweight and former champion, Jean Pascal. Sergey Kovalev showing he is a true world champion by fighting the best opposition he can anywhere in the world. This is why I respect him so much. He’s fighting as much as he can with the best possible oppoonents available. The winner will become Adonis Stevenson’s mandatory challenger for the WBC strap. Which is why so much is at stake in this bout. Therefore I’d like to commend Sergey Kovalev for being a true champion.

With this I ask my fellow readers what do you think of Sergey Kovalev? Who do you believe will win between Sergey Kovalev and Jean Pascal? Finally, do you think Sergey Kovalev will be able to unify all 4 major belts in the Light Heavyweight Division? If you ask me, I say Sergey Kovalev will reign for a long time and eventually will unify all the titles.
