By Scott Gilfoid: If WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) is looking for a big fight later this year after he finishes healing up from his elbow injury then he might want to consider a fight against unbeaten WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (32-0, 29 KOs).

Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez says that they’re interested in the Froch fight, and would be willing to fly over to England to take the fight if he’s interested.

Froch doesn’t have an opponent for his next, which he says he’d like to take during the summer. The fighter that Froch has talked of wanting to fight, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, is already scheduled to fight Andrzej Fonfara on April 18th, and there’s no way that Chavez Jr will be able to fight in the summer.

“Eddie Hearn [Froch’s promoter] is a great friend of Tom’s [Loeffler]. All he [Hearn] has to do is draft a contract. We’re willing to go to England,” Sanchez said via Michelle Phelps. “Draft a contract for September. I’m sure Tom would be willing to make a lot of concessions, and Golovkin too. That is the kind of fight that is worthy of pay-per-view. Carl, send a contract to Eddie or call him. Let’s get that fight on.”

This sounds great. So now all we need is for Hearn to send a contract to Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler so that the fight can get made. Hearn recently said that he can see the Froch-Golovkin fight taking place at the end of the year.

If Hearn was on the level, then he should go ahead and contact Loeffler so that the two of them can start talking about putting the fight together. Of course, if Hearn was just mouthing off without being serious then I can understand why he might not be interested in making the Froch-Golovkin fight.

“It is a high-risk fight [Froch-Golovkin], then I believe you will see that happening the end of the year, early next year. I am confident Carl Froch will fight him,” Hearn said via Skysports.com.

Hearn says he’s confident that Froch will beat Golovkin. That’s good to hear, because maybe Hearn will push Froch to make the fight. I think Hearn is willing to put Froch in with pretty much everyone except for Andre Ward and the Dirrell brothers. But I don’t know that Froch is all that excited about fighting Golovkin.

“Just swerve Golovkin like the plague. He punches like a mule. I don’t need to be in with him. Dangerous fight,” Froch said about Golovkiin, as quoted by HBO.

That doesn’t exactly sound like Froch is too interested in facing Golovkin, does it? That’s why I don’t think it really matters whether Hearn is interested in making the Froch-Golovkin fight or not. If Froch isn’t interested in making the Golovkin fight, then it probably doesn’t matter how badly Hearn wants that fight.

Froch is going to do what’s best for his boxing career, and if that’s a fight against the very beatable Chavez Jr or the 50-year-old Bernard Hopkins, then that’s what we’re going to be seeing.
