By Chris Williams: Tonight at 9p ET/6p PT, the second episode of All Access: Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 will air on Showtime before the triple header of live boxing from the U.S Bank Center in Cincinnati Ohio.

Tonight’s All Access episode will take boxing fans into the games of WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) and Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs) as they prepare for their rematch on September 13th next week at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their fight will be televised on Showtime pay-per-view.

Mayweather has been working very hard on his conditioning and especially on his punch output. He wants to make sure that he’s the one throwing more shots this time rather than Maidana. The last time these two warriors fought last May, Maidana had a big advantage in punches thrown. However, his aim was poor and he wasn’t able to take full advantage of the countless shots he threw at Mayweather in the fight.

Boxing fan will get to see Team Maidana sitting down for a strategy session to try and figure out some way to crack the May-Vinci code while watching video of the previous Mayweather-Maidana fight. The main thing that Team Maidana concluded during the session was that Maidana needs to stop head hunting against Mayweather, and instead look to throw to the body more.

It’s going to be tough for them to get Maidans to stop throwing head shots all the time because he’s naturally a fighter who focuses mostly on throwing head shots instead of body shots. It doesn’t make a lot of sense that Maidana doesn’t throw more body punches, because he would be a far better fighter if he added that element to his game.

Mayweather believes he’s got a great chance of knocking Maidana out in this fight. In looking at how Mayweather is training, he’s focusing on throwing to the body more than to the head. His team spotted a weakness in Maidana from watching the previous Mayweather-Maidana fight in which Maidana seemed to slow down in the second half of the fight from the effects of Mayweather’s body attack.

Mayweather landed a lot of stabbing jabs to the midsection of Maidana and you could see the shots bothered him. If Mayweather increases his attack to Maidana’s hody in the rematch next Saturday, you can bet it’s going to have a positive effect for Mayweather. We could see Maidana hit the deck once or twice from body shots in this fight en route to losing by a 12 round decision or by a stoppage.

Like in the first fight, Mayweather will have the hand speed, experience and the talent advantage over Maidana. The only things Maidana has going for him is his power and youth. The youth part isn’t much of an advantage because Mayweather is a very young 37, and is more like a fighter in his late 20s than his late 30s.

Mayweather will close the book on Maidana if he beats him in this fight. Even if it’s a narrow win, it’ll give Mayweater two wins over Maidana and that’ll be enough for Mayweather to move on with his career.
