Mayweather, Pacquiao, Canelo: 3 factors for 2015

floyd656By Francisco Gurrola: It has been sensed that perhaps in 2015 things will arrange themselves in a way that history could possibly be made.

There are a couple of factors involved, to which all would have to fall into place for the history of boxing to change. There has been talk of a possibly Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Manny Pacquiao fight and a possible Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Miguel Cotto in 2015.

It is imperative to know that before we jump into those fights, one of them a “dream fight” there has to be some determining factors involved. First as we all know the mentioned above opponents have to go through one more challenge before even getting close to the history fights.

First, we got Canelo taking on Erislandy Lara, a close and risky fight for Canelo on July 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. For soccer fans of Brazil this fight is similar to the Brazil vs. Chile game they almost lost Chile being the underdog. The Same philosophy applies here. Canelo is yet to prove himself against Lara and leave the boxing fans “Canelo thirsty” after the fight.

Then, we got Mayweather, which we all could assume he will take care of business on September of 2015 against Marcos Maidana on a 2nd fight. I don’t see the fight being much different from the 1st fight. Mayweather could very well once again win by decision. Now, Pacquiao, there has been talk of a Pacquiao vs. Juan Manul Marquez, Pacquiao vs. Terence Crawford, Pacquiao vs. Amir Khan, and Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto. Not so sure what will be the opponent here for him, but I am positive that whoever Pacquiao fights he will come out victorious.

If these 3 fights end up with a Mayweather, Canelo and Pacquiao victory we could possibly make history in 2015. There are 2 factors I see involved that could make this happen. First, Mayweather has mentioned recently that he has a “big surprise in May” coming up for boxing fans.

That leaves the door open to the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, sounds unlikely; but what other surprise would really be big if it’s not that? Also the second factor to consider is if Canelo decides to fight in May battling Mayweather’s pay-per-view numbers. A Canelo vs, Cotto would push Mayweather to put on a great PPV card, and one of the only options I can see it would be facing 8th division champ Manny Pacquiao.

Of course, it is important to note, these are all speculations and not proven facts. But I will say, that I see light at the end of this tunnel, and I perhaps see the possibility of it coming true. If this all takes place, the history of boxing will be marked forever and fans will finally be satisfied that we got to see the best 2 boxers of our generation so far.
