Is Canelo forcing Mayweather to work with Arum?

floyd432By Mohamed Horomtallah: Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) usually waits until the very last moment to announce his next opponent and certainly not a year ahead of time.

What made Mayweather feel the need to tease fans 11 months before his may 2015 fight by saying that he has a big surprise for us on that date?

Mayweather knows all too well that when he promises the fans a “big surprise” for may 2015 it can only means one thing and one thing only : a fight with Manny Pacquiao!

There isn’t any other fighter out there that can be sold to the fans as a “big surprise”! Only Manny Pacquiao fits the bill.

However, fighting Pacquiao cannot be accomplished without dealing with Bob Arum and Top Rank and Mayweather made it his mission in life not to do any business with Arum.

What can make Mayweather change his mind or better yet, what can FORCE mayweather to reconsider his position?

The answer is obvious: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (43-1-1, 31 KOs).

Canelo announced recently that he was going to fight on may and September of 2015, which are Mexican holidays and two very lucrative holidays as far as pay-per-view goes.

It is common knowledge that Mayweather is boxing top dog and that no other fighter can challenge his may and September dates. That may prove not to be the case anymore.

Should Canelo win in spectacular and/or convincing fashion against Lara next Saturday and provided Cotto wins his next fight in an equally spectacular way then Canelo vs. Miguel Cotto will be a huge PPV event for next Cinco de Mayo.

Mayweather will not be able to compete with that and could be even humiliated numbers wise if he decided to against that card.

The only way Mayweather can have Canelo give up the Cinco de Mayo date is if he strikes a deal to fight Pacquiao.

One cannot helps but be surprised by Canelo. Not only is he a superstar but he earned everybody’s respect when he took the toughest fights in his weight class not to mention his business moves. You gotta take your hat off for the Mexican warrior.

It takes big” cojones” to twist Mayweather’s arm and force him to resort to desperate measures.
