Mayweather v Maidana will end the same way the Arturo Gatti fight did

By Darren Hatch: In 2005, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (45-0, 26 KO’s) gave Arturo Gatti 6 painful rounds of jabs and straight right hands. Speed, footwork, boxing instinct, natural ability and great skill all played a part in the break down of Arturo Gatti over the duration of the fight. In round 1, Mayweather showed no mercy, he met Gatti in the centre of the ring giving him a pure boxing lesson.

Gatti could barely land a punch as the dominant Mayweather used hes superb footwork to avoid almost every punch Gatti threw. Near the end of the round Mayweather leaned on Gatti not allowing him to raise his head, referee Earl Morton said “stop punching”. As Mayweather allowed Gatti to lift his head up he landed two punches to Gatti’s head which seemed to have no effect. Doing the same thing as Victor Ortiz did he stared at the referee without protecting himself.

Mayweather took full advantage of this situation and landed a big left hook to Gatti’s face sending him to the canvas. The next 5 rounds Mayweather punished Gatti and beat him up until his corner were forced to stop the fight.

Punch stats:

Mayweather – 295(thrown) 168(landed)
Gatti – 245(thrown) 41(landed)

Despite this fight being nearly 10 years ago , the outcome of this fight will be replicated when the pair get into the ring on May 3rd. Mayweather’s speed and footwork will prove superior to anything Maidana can throw at him. Maidana will walk towards Mayweather trying to cut off the ring and then will be punished by a straight right hand to the face , then Floyd will tie him up, move away and the same process will be applied. 5 , 6 or 7 rounds later Maidana’s face will be bloodied , cut and swollen. The fight will be stopped and Mayweather will be declared the winner.

I cant see this fight finishing any other way because Mayweather knows he needs a legitimate knock out to please his fans. Depsite Maidana’s victory over Adrien Broner, it proves nothing as Broner is not in the same league as Mayweather and thats why Mayweather is fighting him because he knows it will make him look good.
