Groves ready to beat Froch

groves21323By Scott Gilfoid: #2 WBA, #2 WBO, #4 IBF, George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) says he already knows how to whip IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) for their fight next month on November 23rd. Groves has scouted out Froch a long time ago, seen all of his many flaws, and he’s ready to come in take his scalp off in front of his own fans and expose him to the world.

Froch’s recent victory over Mikkel Kessler last May has given Groves even more incite in how to beat the 36-year-old Froch, because he showed a massive amount of chinks in his armor in that fight. The lack of speed, the limp jab and the poor defense that Froch showed in that fight has given Groves a good jumping board to get ready for their fight at the Phones 4u Arena, in Manchester, Lancashire, United Kingdom.

Groves said to Sky Sports “I know how to beat Carl Froch. I knew what I’ve got to do…I’ve seen plenty of Carl Froch. I know I’ve got everything I need to beat him. It’s just about showing up on the night and doing it. I know what I’ve got to do and I can’t wait to get out there and do it.”

I believe Groves when he says he knows how to beat Froch. When you look at the guys that Groves has beaten in the past, you can see that he does especially well with the slow plodder types like Froch. Groves was made to defeat guys like Froch and you can give a big thanks to Andre Dirrell for his valuable sparring that he gave Groves two years ago before his fight against James DeGale.

Before the sparring session with Dirrell, Groves was a pretty basic fighter who would go out and try to overpower his opposition with his shots. But since the sparring with Dirrell, Groves has become more of a mover, craftier and better able to disguise his power until ready to explode on his opponents the way that Dirrell does.

Groves is a lot harder to hit than he was before his sparring session with Andre, and that’s obviously improved him dramatically. So what we’re looking at with the Groved-Froch fight on November 23rd is almost like the long-awaited rematch between Froch and Dirrell, as Groves will be bringing Dirrell fighting style to the Froch fight and will be using all the tricks that he learned from that sparring session to get the victory.

Froch has got his work cut out for him in this fight. He’s facing a fighting style that he’s clearly not going to be ready for and about the only thing that he can do to beat Groves is if he can land a big shot to take him out. I seriously doubt that’ll happen because Groves won’t back up to the ropes and just stand there the way that Lucian Bute did last year. Groves isn’t a stationary fighter, and those are the types of opponents that Froch is good against. If you put a stationary guy in the ring with Froch, he’s going to win 9 times out of 10. But you put a move with great defense like Andre Ward, Dirrell and Groves, then you’re going to see Froch looking clueless.
