Haye sends contract to Fury

haye444555By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) has reportedly sent a fight contract over to unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (21-0, 14 KO’s), and Fury says he’s going to sign it this Monday so that the two of them can finally face each other.

Fury said on his twitter “I’ll fight Haye tomorrow. I’ll sign the contract first thing Monday morning if Haye is willing. He can have it all his own way. Let’s get going.”

The fight will potentially give each fighter 5 million pounds for the bout, which is pretty incredible given that neither fighter is a champion. Fury likely never will be unless he improves dramatically from his performance last April against former cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham.

Recently, Haye and Fury went back and forth after Haye complained that Fury turned down a 50-50 offer to fight him. Fury said later that he wanted an 80/20 money split to take the fight, and many boxing fans saw this as a sign that Fury didn’t want any part of facing Haye. However, it looks like Fury has changed his mind and will accept the 50/50 deal to take the fight.

It’s a smart move for Fury to take the cash while he can because it’s probably going to be the best money fight of his career. I can’t see Fury making that kind of cash after he gets blown out by Haye in one or two rounds.

It’ll take ages of 2nd tier opposition for Fury to get back to where he’s at right now and I just don’t see it happening. A big KO loss to Haye will put Fury at the point where he won’t be able to climb back up the division rankings, even with a steady diet of 2nd and 3rd tier opposition like the guys that Fury built his inflated unbeaten record on.
