Carl Froch willing to fight Kessler in a neutral venue

froch305By Dominic Sauboorah: WBA and IBF Super Middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2 20 KO’s) stated in his post-fight press conference how he’s willing to fight Mikkel Kessler (46-3 35 KO’s) for a third time in a neutral venue. I think it’s fair as they’ve both fought on each others home turfs and both have a win over one another, so the third one could be seen as the decider.

Despite the great performance Froch put in the fight was closer than what the judges suggested. I had Froch winning by one round considering that Kessler came on strong in the middle rounds and had Froch badly hurt in the 11th. Nevertheless I do believe that the best man won. A third fight would be a treat for the fans and the fact that they’re talking about staging it at a neutral venue shows the character of the two men and how they’re willing to fight anywhere.

In my opinion I believe they should make the fight happen at either the MGM or Madison Square Garden, mainly on the basis that the rematch got a lot of exposure from HBO, therefore a third fight is likely to attract a wider global demographic, thereby bringing in more money. There’s no reason why a potential third fight couldn’t happen by the end of this year, depending on how quickly both men recover.

However I know some fans have been calling for a rematch between Andre Ward and Carl Froch. I do believe that Froch has learnt from his mistakes from that fight, although I don’t know if it’ll be enough against Ward who is as slick as you like. The last person to put him on the canvas was Darnell Boone, when Ward was nothing more than a prospect; he’s learnt loads since then. In all reality Ward has very few options in terms of big money fights, because very few are willing to fight him, due to his awkward style. Froch is the only one with motivation as he wants to avenge that loss, which is understandable.

If that fight happens I can see Ward winning again by a unanimous decision and I can’t imagine it being very entertaining, therefore a third fight with Kessler may be better for Froch as he’ll be able to say once and for all who is the better boxer and he’ll earn a lot of money from it, depending on where it’s staged, due to the entertainment value.
