Brook: I’m going to show the boxing world what I’ve got on February 23rd
By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten #1 IBF Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s) may come up empty on February 23rd when he faces IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13 KO’s) in Detroit, Michigan, but he’ll at least prove ahead of time that he’s far, far superior to Alexander about talking himself up and bragging about his talents.
It’s just that he’s going to look like of silly if he fights the same way he did against Carson Jones last year in July. Brook was bragging about himself before that one too, and he looked awful to the extreme.
We’ve heard the excuses from him for why he looked so bad, blaming it on his conditioning. Like a lot of fighters that have excuses they like to use, he’s now saying his conditioning problems have been taken care of. I don’t see how that’s possible when he hasn’t even been tested since that fight. I mean, Brook had one mismatch against a fighter with an inflated ranking, and now Brook is suddenly saying his conditioning problems have been taken care of.
How does he know? The fact is he doesn’t know, and he’s just guessing and hoping his stamina has improved but he doesn’t know. We’re going to find out though on February 23rd when Alexander puts it on him and takes him into the deep end to drown him.
Brook said on his twitter “I’m going to show the boxing world what I’m all about come the 23rd.”
I think boxing fans will find out, but they’re going to find out that Brook is the same fighter that was getting pummeled by Jones in the second half of their fight, and who had Brook staggering around in the 12th ready to be put out his misery.
If you’ve looked at photos of Brook in training camp, you’ll see that he looks shredded in a way that fighters don’t usually look. He’s too muscular and he looks like he’s put on muscle that’s not conducive for fighter. If my assumption is correct about his physique, then we may see Brook gassing out by the 4th or 5th round on February 23rd and taking a beating by Alexander.
