Carl ‘ The Cobra’ Froch: What’s next?

froch55By Chris Bax: Carl Froch had a great 2012 winning a third world title in beating the much hyped and at the time unbeaten Lucian Bute for the IBF world super middleweight strap last year in May. Now what lies ahead for Froch in 2013?

What the fans in the uk want for ‘The Cobra’ next is a unification fight with the Danish World Boxing Association (WBA) title holder Mikel Kessler, and it looks as if that fight is close to being made for March/April time in the UK. Froch did have a rematch clause in the contract with Lucian Bute but it seems that Bute wants no part of Froch at this point in time. I see Froch just destroying Bute again much like he did in the first fight so it really makes no sense for Bute to go for the rematch.

The first fight with Kessler which Froch lost his WBC world strap was an absolute war, and personally I can’t wait for the rematch. Two warriors going toe to toe in the middle of the ring is what boxing is all about. I see Froch winning the rematch this time in a very close fight.

Froch would then like to fight Andre Ward in another rematch, but as the IBF are letting Froch bypass Adonis Stevenson (Froch’s mandatory challenger) this time to make the fight with Kessler. I think they will force Froch to either fight Stevenson or vacate his ibf strap. I think Froch will vacate the strap and go after the much bigger fight with Andre ward in the UK for this summer. Unfortunately I don’t see Froch winning a rematch against Ward, who in my opinion is one of the top 3 pound for pound fighters on the planet right now. But he will put on a show for the UK fans and prove once again what a true warrior he is. Who knows he may shock everyone and beat ward, either way it should be a great 2013 for ‘The Cobra’.
