Image: Hatton vs. Senchenko: No shame for Ricky if he gets stroked outBy Scott Gilfoid: If 34-year-old Ricky Hatton (45-2, 32 KO’s) tastes defeat in his comeback fight against Vyacheslav Senchenko (32-1, 21 KO’s) on November 24th in Manchester, England, then he has nothing to really be ashamed of. For any fighter coming back from a three year layoff like Hatton and facing a guy like Senchenko, there’s not a high likelihood of success.

There are so many things against Hatton in his comeback that it would take a miracle for him to be able to accomplish his goal of beating Senchenko and then moving on to capture a world title. The odds are simply against Hatton doing that because he was considered a shot fighter three years ago, and the time off from boxing can’t have helped things any.

Hatton’s chin looked fragile in his losses to Floyd Mayweather Jr, Manny Pacquiao and near loss to Juan Lazcano. Things looked like they were at an end for Hatton when he retired from the sport in 2009. He’s now had three years off and that’s never easy for anyone to come off that much time away from boxing and then try and start in where he left off by facing a guy that just lost his title in his last fight.

Hatton is going to be taking a lot hard shots from Senchenko in this fight because the big 5’10” Ukrainian knows full well what Hatton’s weaknesses are and he’s going to be gunning for his head from round on. Senchenko won’t have to worry about Hatton’s jab because he doesn’t really posses any jab to speak of.

That was Senchenko’s undoing in his last fight against Paulie Malignaggi in his last fight in April of this year when Senchenko was stopped in the 9th round by Malignaggi after suffering eye swelling. With the huge height and reach advantage that Senchenko will have against Hatton on November 24th, he’ll not have to worry about getting hit with any shots while on the outside like last time.
