While the 23-year-old Broner respects the 26-year-old DeMarco as a fighter, he doesn’t for a second see him as his equal inside the ring or even close to being his equal. He simply sees it as a mismatch.

Broner said to RingTV “It doesn’t matter what he [DeMarco] comes with. I’m just at another level. I don’t see this guy really doing too much.”

Broner is going to have to make sure DeMarco doesn’t do too much because Broner will be making a big mistake if he leaves DeMarco out there too long to where his excellent power starts to kick and to play a factor in this fight. Broner has the advantage in the boxing skills department and is at least as hard hitting as DeMarco.

Broner’s advantages are in the areas of speed, accuracy, defense and athleticism. Broner is clearly better than DeMarco in those areas. DeMarco could have a better heart than Broner, though, because DeMarco is able to take a great deal of punishment without getting flustered and giving up on himself. In contrast, Broner looked ill at ease in his narrow win over Daniel Ponce De Leon last year in February. Broner was okay when he was the one landing the shots, but when De Leon began to put pressure on him and was able to land hard shots, Broner looked uncomfortable.

Boxing needs Broner too win this fight and look sharp, because the fighter that he emulates Floyd Mayweather Jr. is getting old now, and is starting to lose his skills. He’s also rarely fighting nowadays and the sport needs an active fighter with the kind of charisma that Broner has going for him.
