Image: Prediction: Cotto will get easily out-boxed by TroutBy Dan Ambrose: Boxing fans may see a large nail driven into the once promising boxing career of Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO’s) by unbeaten and highly intelligence WBA World junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (25-0, 14 KO’s) on December 1st at the Madison Square Garden, in New York, New York, USA.

Cotto, 31, has already lost his last fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr, but now I expect Cotto take a much more one-sided loss than he did last time, because Trout is bigger, his legs are working better, and he’s less concerned with trying to impress boxing fans the way that Mayweather Jr. was last May. Mayweather could have made it a very win over Cotto had he boxed him instead of standing right in front of him for 12 rounds.

However, Mayweather seemed to be preoccupied with trying to give Cotto every advantage he can could get by fighting him at the weight he wanted and the style that he wanted. And even with Mayweather giving Cotto every advantage under the sun, Cotto still lose the fight. Trout is too smart to do that, and he won’t let his ego get out of hand by trying to beat Cotto at his own game. Trout is going to keep the fight at a distance and out-box Cotto with ease.

For Cotto’s sake, I hope he’s been working on his jab in training camp because that might be his only weapon that he can use to try and make contact with Trout on December 1st. Cotto sure won’t be able to land his body shots or any of his big power punches, not with Trout keeping the action on the outside and not letting Cotto get in clos enough for him to land his shots with his short arms.

Trout is a really smart fighter and he knows how to out-box Cotto to get an easy win and I expect him to do that on December 1st.
