Image: Huck-Arslan winner must face AfolabiBy Jason Kim: The November 3rd winner of the title fight between WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (34-2-1, 25 KO’s) and Firat Arslan (32-5-2, 21 KO’s) got some bad news on Friday with the WBO order for the winner of the fight to face WBO interim cruiserweight champion Ola Ofolabi (19-2-4, 9 KO’s) within 180 days.

Huck, 27, probably doesn’t like that idea at all because he struggled to a gift 12 round draw against Afolabi last May in a fight where Huck deserved to lost by at least two rounds. He looked really poor in that fight but it took place in Germany where he’s almost impossible to beat.

Huck will almost surely beat the 42-year-old Arslan when they fight on November 3rd at the Gerry Weber Stadium, Halle, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. Arslan, #8 WBO, fought to a draw himself in his last fight against Alexander Alekseev last May. Arslan deserved a decision but had to settle for a controversial draw. However, Arslan still stands next to no chance against the bigger punching but much more crude Huck. The best he can hope for in this fight is that the judges at least give him credit for the rounds he does well in. The scoring of his fight against Alekseev was really odd because Arslan dominated the first 10 rounds of the fight beyond question and the fight wasn’t close at all.

Huck struggled to a controversial 12 round decision against Denis Lebedev two years ago in a fight where Huck should have lost but was given the win. Again, this was another German based fight for Huck. However, he finally ran out of luck in a fight earlier this year against WBA World heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin, losing to him by a 12 round majority decision.

Although the fight was close, Huck couldn’t handle the high work rate from Povetkin and ended up losing. Huck should have lost points in that fight for all the rabbit punches he threw. He was landing punches to the back of Povetkin’s all throughout the fight but the referee failed to take points away.
