Image: Deontay Wilder could be the next big thing in AmericaBy Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight Deontay Wilder (24-0, 24 KO’s) could be headed to countless riches in the near future if he can keep knocking out opponents like he did tonight with his sensational 1st round knockout win over Kertson Manswell (22-6, 17 KO’s) at the Exposition Hall in Mobile, Alabama. I’ve seen more than a few boxing fans already comparing the talented Wilder to a young Mike Tyson.

Wilder is seriously that good and I can’t blame fans for comparing the 6’7″ talent with Tyson, because he’s been knockout guys out in the early rounds just like a young Tyson did at the start of his incredible career. However, Wilder has already eclipsed what Tyson did at the start of his career by knocking out his first 24 opponents. In contrast, Tyson knocked out his first 19 opponents before he was taken the distance for the first time in his career.

There’s a lot of hate and jealousy out there for Wilder among a certain segment of the boxing population. No doubt there are fans that are upset because their heros don’t have the kind of crushing power that Wilder possesses in his right hand and they probably wish they did.

The way that Wilder was teeing off on Manswell tonight, knocking him down seemingly each time he connected with one of his huge right hands or left hooks. The speed was top notch, the jab was top notch, and the power was send to none. You could see from the sound of the impacts that Wilder’s right hand power and left power, is the best in the division right now. I can’t remember a fighter that can match him. Perhaps a young George Foreman had power along the same lines as Wilder, but Foreman didn’t have the speed or the arm length that Wilder possesses. As such, it would take Foreman a lot more shots to get the same job done that Wilder typically does in one or two rounds.

If Wilder can keep knocking people out like this in the near future, he’s going to make big bank. He’s going to get really rich and he could end up as wealthy as some of the smaller fighters that are making tons of green stuff with each fight.
