Image: Haye: In less than six weeks I'm destroying ChisoraBy Sean McDaniel: Former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye believes he’s going to get the job done against Dereck Chisora on July 14th and do it in style by dominating the wide-bodied fighter at Upton Part.

Chisora, 245lbs, has grown accustomed recently to facing – and losing – to super sized heavyweights such as Tyson Fury, Robert Helenius and Vitali Klitschko.

Haye said on his twitter “Less than six weeks till I destroy Chisora. Time to crank it up in the gym. This year out I’ve had has really rejuvenated my body and mind.”

Although Chisora did reasonably well in losing to Helenius and Vitali, he still lose and he looked really bad in getting beaten by Fury. The difference here was that Vitali and Helenius didn’t have the foot movement or the stamina to move around the ring against the slower Chisora.

Fury, however, was light on his feet and able to move for 12 rounds continuously, easily eluding Chisora’s pot shots. Chisora can fight well on the inside against stationary fighters or he can wing pot shots from the outside, but he struggles against fighters that use movement. That’s how Vitali and Fury beat him. In Vitali’s case, he was fighting with only one arm from the 2nd round after injuring his left shoulder badly. He didn’t have great stamina and it wore him out moving constantly.

Haye hasn’t fought since losing a 12 round decision against IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko last July. Haye had the movement going for him in that fight, but he didn’t have the size or the reach. Wladimir, 6’6″, outweighed Haye by 20 pounds and his reach was much longer. He was also able to move around the ring well, and he did a good job of preventing Haye from being able to pick his spots to make attacks. Had Wladimir been a stationary fighter, Haye would have stood a much better chance.

Haye will have a big advantage over Chisora in that he’ll be able to circle the ring and avoid Chisora’s inside attacks his bombs. Chisora will be limited to throwing wide arcing pot shots from the outside, and the chances of him landing those shots against Haye will be low. He’ll land some but not enough to win the fight.
