Bradley wants Khan or Mayweather if he can’t get Pacquiao rematch

Image: Bradley wants Khan or Mayweather if he can't get Pacquiao rematchBy William Mackay: New WBO welterweight champion Tim Bradley’s first pick for his next fight in November is a rematch against Manny Pacquiao. However, if Bradley can’t that fight for whatever reason, then Bradley says he’d like to fight WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. or former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO’s) instead.

Bradley told the Desert Sun “I just want the big fights. If Khan is he big fight and we can make it happen, then why not? Let’s do it.”

First off, Khan is facing WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia on July 14th, and there’s a good chance that Khan will lose that fight. Once that happens then there won’t be any point in Bradley knocking Khan off. As it is, Khan was already beaten in his last fight against Lamont Peterson when Khan struggled against Peterson’s pressure and had to run the entire second half of that fight.

No doubt the judges hating seeing Khan running, shoving and pulling down on Peterson’s head, so they gave the fight to Peterson instead. But in looking at how badly Khan performed in that fight, you can’t count on Khan beating anyone with a high degree of certainty in terms of the top fighters at light welterweight. He’s already been knocked out by Breidis Prescott in one round. You think was just an accident? Put Khan in with top light welterweights like Mike Alvarez and Lucas Mattysse, and I see Khan getting sparked out again.

Bradley would love to fight Mayweather next, but that’s probably an impossibility because Mayweather is serving an 87-day jail term and he’ll have problems getting back in top shape by November. I can see him being ready by December, but not November. That’s pushing it too close if Mayweather tries to fight Bradley that soon.

Bradley said this about a fight against Mayweather: “If he doesn’t want to face me, he doesn’t have to. He’s all about money, ‘Money’ Mayweather. If it doesn’t make money, it doesn’t make sense. That would be his take.”
