Image: Froch thinks Bute's career may be over with his lossBy Scott Gilfoid: For some reason Carl Froch thinks Lucian Bute’s 5th round stoppage defeat was so bad for him that it will be a “Career-ending” loss for him. I think Froch is really tooting his own horn a bit too much here if he believes his win over Bute will effect him that much.

Froch said to thesun.co.uk “I’m not bragging…That was some performance by me, and I think it was a career-ending performance…I don’t think he’s going to want to fight again, let alone fight me again…I don’t think Bute will want the rematch.”

Oh brother, Froch is over magnifying the significance of his win last night. Bute isn’t going to retire and this defeat hasn’t messed him up as a fighter. He’ll be back and he’ll want the rematch, I know it.

I see Bute beating Froch in Montreal and doing it with speed and power. Last night Bute made some mistakes by not using his jab, hanging on the ropes too long, not putting his punches together and moving enough. These things can easily be fixed and I expect them to. But Froch is glorifying his win too much by saying it’s a victory that will end Bute’s career. It wasn’t that kind of beating. To be sure, Bute took a few shots but the fight was over before it even started. Bute was still not even really warmed up at the time he got hurt in the 3rd. I think he never recovered from that round. In a rematch, he’d fix all those mistakes he made and would be ready to take Froch’s IBF title from him.

If Froch thinks 9000 fans were a big deal just wait until he fights in front of 15,000 Bute fans in Montreal. We’ll see how different Froch looks when he steps inside the lion’s den in Montreal. It’ll be a whole different ballgame.
