Image: Bradley: Pacquiao isn't taking food off of my tableBy Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is fabulously rich at this point in his career, and he’s got enough money to live comfortable in three lifetimes. However, his opponent Tim Bradley hasn’t made the big money yet, and he doesn’t want to lose to Pacquiao and mess things up for himself and his family.

Bradley said “He’s [Pacquiao] taking food off of my table. That’s what he’s trying to do. My kids are going to eat.”

What this means is when you’ve got a fighter with that kind of mental outlook, it suggests that he is willing to fight beyond pain in order to get a win. I don’t know that Pacquiao can push himself to the extent that Bradley is willing to do, because there’s nothing that Pacquiao losses if he gets beaten. He’s already got a ton of money, and huge money he has is even bigger because he lives in the Philippines where his money can go farther.

Of course, if Pacquiao gives it all away or doesn’t make much money because he’s giving his trainer and promoter good money, then maybe he does need to keep fighting as long possible. But I think Pacquiao might be in for a really tough time on June 9th when he faces a hungry Bradley.

When you fight a guy that hasn’t made the big money yet, it’s a whole different kind of fighter that you’re in with. Bradley is ambitious and that makes him very dangerous for Pacquiao. The guys that Pacquiao has been facing lately have already made their money, guys like Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito and Shane Mosley. But Bradley is still just at the start to where he’s getting more and more money. You put him in with Pacquiao, and Bradley is going to be like a hungry young lion facing a lion that’s already had too many meals and who is starting to age. I don’t know that Pacquiao is going to be able to fight off this lion at this stage in his career. It’s the nature of the sport. The old get old, and the young take over. I think Bradley is ready to rip Pacquiao apart and get his money for himself and his family.
