Froch: Bute hasn’t got what it takes to beat me

Image: Froch: Bute hasn't got what it takes to beat meBy Scott Gilfoid: Former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch is about a week away from his shelling at the hands of IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute, and Froch is sadly showing no signs of acknowledging what he’s up against in this fight. He keeps crowing about how his loyal loving Brits are going to make a lot of noise to put Bute off his game on May 26th, but it sounds like desperate talk to me.

When a fighter starts flapping his gums talking about how his fans are going to help him win a fight that tells me the fighter has a lot of self doubt creeping around his head. I mean, who could blame Froch for being afraid of Bute? The Canadian-based Romanian has been knocking guys out left and right like it’s going out of style. Bute doesn’t even bother going for the head nowadays. He’s developed into such a great body puncher that all he needs is to land a few choice body punches and he’s got a KO.

Froch said this about Bute “He isn’t proven at the world level. I’m very confident he hasn’t got what it takes to beat a guy like me.”

Yeah, yeah, Froch, we’ve heard it all before. Froch was supposed to beat Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward, but unfortunately he got spanked by both of those guys. He was supposed to beat Andre Dirrell, and ended up getting schooled by the talented American. Unfortunately, the judges scored it for Froch. In case you don’t remember, the fight took place in Froch’s home city of Nottingham, UK. Dirrell still burns with anger about that loss, and I don’t blame him.

I’d say the chances are better than average that Bute takes Froch out by the 6th round with a beautiful left to the body. Bute’s left hand is out of this world, and he can throw it to the body or head and produce knockouts either way. It doesn’t pay off to go head hunting against Froch, though, because he can take some god awful shots and keep coming forward.
