Image: Audley Harrison vs. Ali Adams on SaturdayBy Sean McDaniel: 40-year-old former 2000 Olympic heavyweight gold medalist Audley Harrison (27-5, 20 KO’s) returns to the ring on Saturday night against Ali Adams (13-3-1, 5 KO’s) in a 10 round sell out bout in what was supposed to have been Harrison’s last fight of his career at the Brentwood Centre, Brentwood, Essex, UK.

However, Harrison has had a change of mind about retiring after this fight and intends on fighting at least one time beyond this bout. Harrison is hoping to fight Tyson Fury or David Price.

Speaking with thesun.co.uk, Harrison said “After I give Adams a lesson, I’m throwing my name into the hat with David Price and Tyson Fury. I’m ready to put in a succession of Olympic type performances to finish my career on a high.”

It goes without saying that Harrison will continue to fight beyond the Adams bout even if he doesn’t get a fight against Fury or Price. Harrison also wants a rematch against David Haye, who stopped Harrison in the 3rd round two years ago in a fight that turned off a lot of boxing fans toward pay per view fights.

Harrison threw exactly one jab in the three rounds of the fight, and spent most of the time looking paralyzed with fear. Harrison recently put the blame for that off performance on a torn pectoral muscle that he went into the fight with. Why Harrison didn’t cancel the fight is the big question.

Harrison should get by Adams with no problems. Adams seems little more than a one round fighter that gasses out after the first two minutes of action and spends the rest of the fight using massive amounts of feints but doing little else. Harrison beats this guy even with one arm. The only way I can see adams winning is if he can take Harrison out in the first round with a flurry of shots.
