Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer says the contracts have been signed.

Quillin, #6 WBA, #15 WBO, will get his first real test if Wright has anything left in the tank, and that’s a big IF. Wright hasn’t fought since April 2009 in a 12 round decision loss to Paul Williams. Before that, Wright hadn’t fought in two years since losing to Bernard Hopkins by a 12 round decision. So it comes down to Wright having fought only once in the past five years.

That’s a number that’s hard to swallow, because it’s pretty impossible to imagine any fighter beating a top contender like Quillin with only having fought only one time in five years. A prime Wright would likely humiliate Quillin in beating him by a lopsided 10 round decision. However, Wright is not only inactive with rust, but he’s also and in his 40s. You could maybe give Wright a chance if he had taken off all those years, but was still youn. But he’s not. He’s over 40 and didn’t look good in his last two fights against Hopkins and Paul Williams.

Quillin is very vulnerable because of all his flaws in his game. He’s strictly a one-armed power puncher that mainly throws pot shots. Quillin doesn’t use his left and has no inside game. He’s very beatable if you put him in with someone that can actually fight and take his occasional right hand bombs. Wright will likely have no problem with Quillin’s power but he may have problems with pressure unless Wright can rediscover hi jab to try and keep Quillin on the outside where he won’t be able to do much.
