However, instead of agreeing to fight Frampton for his next fight, Quigg will be facing Rendall Monroe (24-2, 10 KO’s) on June 16th at the Velodrome, in Manchester, UK.

“I believe Mr. McGuigan was in Newcastle doing a dinner talking rubbish as per usual. That they’d made an offer for Frampton v Quigg & we didn’t want it. The offer that we had was 2 days after we announced Quigg vs Monroe. But we’re running scared. Wow wee baz, get a grip mate.”

The Quigg-Monroe fight will be for the interim WBA World super bantamweight title. As for Frampton, it’s possible that he could wind up next for the winner of the Quigg vs. Monroe fight. It might not happen though because Frampton’s not ranked in the top 15 by the World Boxing Association and that fight could end up getting blocked by the WBA until Frampton is at least a contender.

Quigg is rated at #3 and Monroe #13. Frampton, 25, may need a few more fights under his belt before he received a top 15 ranking. He’s certainly looked very good as of late beating guys like Kris Hughes and Prosper Ankrah by knockout. But what Frampton needs is a fight against a more established fighter so that he can recognition. If he can’t get a fight against the winner of the Quigg-Monroe fight, Frampton should consider trying to go after the loser of that fight. At the very least, it’ll give boxing fans and himself a good gauge to tell where he stands between him and the winner of that fight. Quigg looks real good right now for possibly beating Monroe but it still remains to be seen whether he’s good enough to get past the more experienced Monroe.
