Image: Bradley: It's almost inevitable for a head-clash to happen in Pacquiao fightBy Chris Williams: In a refreshingly honest interview WBO light welterweight champion Tim Bradley openly admitted that a head clash is very likely to happen in his HBO pay-per-view fight against WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao on June 9th due to both fighters have opposite fighting stances.

Bradley quite rightly pointed out that when you have a lefty and a righty fighting, head clashes are often an end result.

Bradley said to GMAnetwork.com “All this talk about head clashes, when you have a righty and a lefty, the power hands are lined up on the same side; it’s almost inevitable for a head clash to happen…I’m not in the ring trying to headbutt this guy.”

So true! I think Pacquiao and his complaining fans need to put a sock in it and understand that Bradley doesn’t go out looking to tag his opponents with his head. It happens sometimes but it’s usually because of a clash of styles between him and his opponent.

It happens but it’s not intentional, so Pacquiao is going to have to understand that and try not to worry about it. It’s one of those things where if it happens, it happens. Pacquiao will survive, but may have to deal with a little blood on fight night on June 9th. He’s certainly getting enough money to deal with any pain he night experience from a headbutt or a cut resulting from a head clash.

Bradley says he doesn’t want to have any headbutts occur and the he went out of his way in his last fight against Joel Casamayor to make sure that there weren’t any head clashes in the fight.

If Pacquiao does get cut up from a headbutt or two against Bradley, he’s going to have to keep grin and bear it, and take it like a man. After all, this is his baby. He was the one that wanted to fight Bradley. He could have had an immediate rematch with 38-year-old Juan Manuel Marquez, because that was the guy that Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum wanted him to fight so that Pacquiao could shut down the criticism he’s been receiving on a daily basis since he won the highly controversial 12 round decision over Marquez last November. However, Pacquiao reportedly didn’t think that boxing fans would be interested in seeing a fourth fight between him and Marquez and instead decided it would be a great idea to fight Bradley. I think it’s a good choice, although I don’t agree with the timing of the fight.

The more logical time to fight Bradley would be AFTER the Marquez rematch rather than before, but that’s Pacquiao for you. If he gets cut to ribbons accidentally from the crown of Bradley’s head, then it’s on him. He’s the one that picked him and he’s going to have to take the pain that goes along with fighting him. Anytime you fight a rough guy like Bradley, you’re probably going to get hit with a headbutt sooner or later and maybe an elbow tossed in accidentally as well. But that’s the way it is. Pacquiao wanted Bradley and now he’s getting all of him, including maybe a few head clashes.
